Basic Function:
 
Lead and manage Lean/Six Sigma projects to meet business objectives which focus on the customer and drive continual improvement back into the quality management systems to improve its effectiveness and efficiency. Identify process improvement projects and assist in the identification of baseline and target metrics in order to create the proper infrastructure for successful deployment and support of six sigma techniques.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Lead and manage Lean/Six Sigma projects to meet business objectives which focus on the customer and drive continual improvement back into the quality management systems to improve its effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Provide expertise in statistical tools and systems/process auditing.
  • Lead efforts to establish process objectives and the measurement of how effectively the processes fulfill those objectives.
  • Ensures compliance to Hartzell’s Lean Initiatives by acting as a general consultant to all management and supervision.
  • Lead and facilitate Kaizen events to achieve strategic business targets in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Growth.
  • Assists in setting the strategic direction of Hatrzell’s Lean Initiatives.
  • Development and training of Kaizen leaders from all areas.
  • Ensures timely and successful completion of various Kaizen/Lean projects and provides on-going feedback and progress reports as required to Leadership Team.
  • Support specific areas of the company where significant system nonconformance are identified and ensure that root cause is understood and addressed.
  • Select and lead specific Six Sigma projects aimed at delivering improved process/product quality.
  • Equip/Lead/Coach/Mentor teams to define processes, owners, and control methods using Lean/Six Sigma methods and tools to reduce costs and deliver desired results.
  • Collect and analyze data (customer satisfaction, characteristics and trends of processes including opportunities for preventive actions) to demonstrate the suitability and effectiveness of the management system
Qualifications and Required Skills:
  • This position requires a four-year college degree and five+ years experience.
  • ASQ (or equivalent) Certified Six Sigma Black Belt is required.
  • Must have a successful track record of completed Black Belt projects and previous experience in a project leader role. Excellent statistical data skills in the area of Statistical Process Control, Pareto charts, Run charts, Scatter Diagrams, and Regression analysis are necessary.
  • Proficient in the use of Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Other technical skills and training, such as geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), Gage R&R are required.
  • Outstanding Problem Solving skills are also required.
