Job Title: CNC Machinist - 3rd Shift

Basic Function:
 
The CNC Machinist plans and performs a range of activities to setup and operate CNC machining equipment. This positions performs a variety of machining operations, including but not limited to turning, drilling, reaming, boring, counter boring, milling, tapping, threading, and others. Machining operations on a variety of materials including but not limited to aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and fiberglass will also be required. This position will also be responsible for edits programs to maintain part specifications.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Loads fixtures and parts internal and external to the machining cycle, either by physical or mechanical means.
  • Removes and replaces dull or damaged tooling as required, detecting unusual conditions or specific problems and reporting the same to the proper supervision.
  • Uses fixtures, chucks, or vices needed to hold parts along with simple to complex supports, clamps, or locating devices required to prevent distortion of the parts.
  • Calculates and applies feeds and speeds.
  • Performs first part and in process inspection processes using dial, digital, micrometer, plug, and other functional gaging equipment.
  • Maintains recordkeeping for production records and tool supplies.
  • Maintains preventative maintenance on CNC machinery and equipment.
  • Follows all safety practices and rules.
  • Occasionally assists in proper handling of hazardous waste.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
  • High school diploma is required. Applied trades or technical training is a plus.
  • A minimum of 3 years previous machining experience is required. Manual lathe experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read drawings, charts, tables, and adjustable measuring instruments.
  • Good oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to climb stairs frequently and lift heavy material over 25lbs with mechanical lifting aids is required.
